JMS 2025: Mitsubishi Elevance Concept includes trailer for comfy adventures
TOKYO — Mitsubishi Motors Corporation highlighted its sense of adventure at its booth in the 2025 Japan Mobility Show (JMS) here at the Tokyo Big Sight.
Besides showcasing its Mitsubishi Triton rally car, which won this year’s Asia Cross Country Rally, its new Elevance Concept crossover evokes glamorous trips into the wilderness.
“We chose ‘Forever Adventure’ as our booth theme to express our passion for delivering the timeless wonder of exploration,” said Mitsubishi Motors Corporation president and CEO Takao Kato in a press conference.
“This spirit comes to life in models that embody the essence of Mitsubishi Motors – such as the Mitsubishi Elevance Concept, which integrates the best of our electrification and all-wheel control technologies,” he added. “Even in an age of advanced technologies, we remain committed to the pure joy of driving and aim to inspire a mobility experience that awakens the sense of adventure.”
Swoopy, tough exterior
The Elevance Concept looks unmistakably Mitsubishi, particularly how the light array is shaped like the carmaker’s famous “Dynamic Shield” grill.

The gloss-black roof and high beltline give it a muscular appearance, while the extension of the side windows into the doors promises an airy greenhouse. Touches like the U-shaped accents on the alloy wheels and the upward-sloping trim on the rear-quarter windows catch the eye.
Out back, the LED taillights extend across the tailgate and into the aforementioned trim, while the large tailgate spoiler and wraparound rear windscreen look like things that could be added to production Mitsubishi models soon.
The vehicle also supports trailer hauling with ample sleeping space, a kitchen and a shower enclosure. The carmaker said these features can be powered by the car’s plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system to provide overnight comfort for a glamping-style excursion.
AI on your side
Inside, the Elevance Concept has a capsule-style, two-row cabin that can seat six passengers.
The extensive use of beige leather upholstery adds to the interior’s airy and upscale feel, while the display for the digital gauge cluster, infotainment system and side-view cameras spans the entire width of the dashboard.
The Elevance Concept also introduces an AI Co-Driver that is displayed on the LCD screen embedded in the steering wheel and instrument panel.

The company said the system offers personalized destination suggestions tailored to individual lifestyles and preferences.
“It also uses AI technology to analyze surrounding conditions and vehicle status in real time, recommending optimal drive modes based on road conditions detected by the sensors,” the carmaker said in a press statement.
“This enhances safety and provides a more confident, reassuring driving experience,” it added.
PHEV powertrain
The Elevance Concept also packs a big punch, thanks to its PHEV powerplant that combines a high-efficiency gasoline engine (compatible with carbon-neutral fuels) and a large-capacity traction battery.
Mitsubishi Motors’ signature S-AWC technology now incorporates a quad-motor four-wheel-drive system, with in-wheel motors at the front to enhance steering stability. In addition, dual-motor Active Yaw Control at the rear helps deliver powerful driving force.

“This advanced system ensures a comfortable ride and superior road handling across various road conditions and driving scenarios,” Mitsubishi Motors Corporation said. “By controlling traction control at each individual wheel, the system further enhances off-road capability, while body control helps keep the vehicle level on uneven terrain.”
Can we expect the Mitsubishi Elevance Concept to go into production soon?
