MIAS 2024: Check out the all-new Jimny 5-Door at the Suzuki Philippines booth

The Suzuki Jimny is one of the brand’s hottest models in the Philippines.

Even though it was designed to take on uncharted terrain, the three-door sport-utility vehicle (SUV) has become a popular urban runabout because of its diminutive size, striking looks, and rugged construction. And with the launch of the Jimny 5-Door in January this year, buyers can now get added practicality.

Both Jimny variants are on display at the Suzuki Auto Philippines booth 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), which will be held from April 4 to 7 at the World Trade Center and the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Helping these little SUVs conquer whatever terrain lies ahead is a 1.5-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 gasoline engine producing 101 horsepower and 130 Newton-meters of torque. This is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.

Other unique features include a ladder-frame chassis and the brand’s proven AllGrip Pro four-wheel-drive system with low range gearing.

First electrified MPVs

Suzuki Auto Philippines is also the first brand to bring electrified seven-seat multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) into the country – and both are on display at MIAS 2024.

The Ertiga Hybrid and the XL7 Hybrid are powered by a 1.5-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 gasoline engine pumping out 103 horsepower and 138 Newton-meters of torque. This is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.

Working with the gasoline motor are an Integrated Starter Generator that replaces the alternator and charges the battery pack. These don’t provide power to the wheels like in full hybrids, but work in conjunction with the standard Engine Auto Stop Start System (EASS) to keep the air-conditioning and infotainment systems running while the vehicle is turned off.

Suzuki claims the XL7 Hybrid fuel consumption of up to 22.03 kilometers per liter, as verified by the Automobile Association of the Philippines during internal testing. The XL7 Hybrid also has 200 millimeters of ground clearance, 20 millimeters more than the Ertiga Hybrid.

Finally, you can check out the adorable S-Presso hatchback at the Suzuki Auto Philippines booth.

This little runabout gets a 1.0-liter, twin-cam, 12-valve inline-3 gasoline engine pumping out 66 horsepower and 89 Newton-meters of torque. The S-Presso is available with a 5-speed manual or the 5-speed Automated Gear Shift (AGS), which Suzuki said is “like driving an automatic with the benefit of low fuel consumption equal to a manual transmission.”

Both variants are also equipped with EASS that helps reduce fuel consumption. The company said all these features help the S-Presso AGS get up to 25.3 kilometers per liter.

All those who visit the Suzuki Auto Philippines booth at MIAS 2024 will get the chance to test-drive the vehicles, as well as talk to sales representatives about them. Meanwhile, the Suzuki Safety Scout Corner not only lets kids enjoy games, but also learn about basic road-safety tips.

“Throughout the four-day affair, Suzuki will host a variety of programs, including presentations of their car lineup, interactive booth games, and performances by guest artists, all aimed at elevating the overall experience,” the company said in a press statement.
