Kia Philippines is showing off its guns at the ongoing Kia Movement in Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa City this weekend. And grabbing the spotlight is none other than its newly-launched Kia Sorento Turbo Hybrid.

This newest offering is a testament to the South Korean carmaker’s commitment to sustainable mobility and innovation. For the first time in its 23-year global history, the Sorento nameplate ups the ante with its topnotch hybrid technology. This gives the local market another green mobility option that combines exceptional fuel efficiency all the while providing a robust all-wheel drive performance.

“A complete package and a true powerhouse HEV, the new Kia Sorento Turbo Hybrid combines performance and fuel efficiency in a way few 7-seater SUVs can match,” said Kia Philippines chief operations officer, Brian Buendia, during the vehicle’s recent local debut in the country.

According to him, its cutting-edge technology, versatility, and luxurious design fully embody Kia’s commitment to delivering sustainable solutions that cater to the evolving needs of modern Filipino drivers and families.

“Kia’s newest offering is designed to set new standards in mobility,” he added.

At the heart of this seven-seater behemoth is a 1.6-liter turbocharged smartstream gasoline direct injection engine paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion traction battery.

This intelligent hybrid powertrain, mated to six-speed automatic tranny churns out a combined output of 232 hp and 367 N-m of torque.

Available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants, this SUV comes equipped with selectable drive modes—Eco, Sport, and Smart—as well as three terrain-specific options—Snow, Mud, and Sand, thus making it a true go-anywhere renegade.

What’s more, throw Kia’s innovative electrification vehicle motion control (E-VMC) system into the mix and one, so they say, gets a remarkably comfortable, responsive, and adaptable driving experience.

E-VMC technology features E-Handling, E-Ride, and E-Evasive Handling Assist systems that make use of the electric motor to improve riding comfort and driving stability on and off the road.

Moreover, its smart regeneration feature maximizes the system’s battery regeneration function by automatically selecting regeneration intensity based on vehicle distance, speed, and road slope when coasting, making traction battery operating at optimum levels.

In fact, with all its combined performances, it is claimed that the vehicle can squeeze up to 23km/L even in city driving.

This new Sorento available is three variants and is priced as follows: the EX Turbo Hybrid FWD at P2,188,000; the mid-trim EX+ Turbo Hybrid FWD at P 2,588,000; and the range-topping SX Turbo Hybrid AWD at P2,888,000.

Exciting ‘Kia Movement’ in Alabang

Aside from the new Kia Sorento Turbo Hybrid, other vehicles from the South Korean carmaker are also on display.

Dubbed as “Kia Movement,” the display features its exciting vehicle lineup including internal combustion engines (ICEs), hybrids, and fully electric vehicles (EVs).

“We are excited to continue bringing the Kia Movement to key locations across the Philippines,” Buendia continued.

Together with the Sorento are the bestselling Kia Sonet, the Kia Carnival in diesel and Turbo Hybrid trim, the dynamic Kia Seltos, and the cutting-edge full electric vehicles, the Kia EV6 and the 2024 World Car of the Year, the Kia EV9.

In addition, visitors can take advantage of exclusive on-site financing offers through BPI Auto Loans, providing special deals for those who book their financing reservations during the duration of the show.
