Porsche PH debuts 2025 Taycan EV with more electrifying performance

Avatar

The Porsche Taycan remains to be one of the most fabulous electric vehicles (EV) in the world.

In fact, it is still one of the most fabulous cars ever produced – its wide haunches, flowing curves and sleek silhouette create a shape that draws attention without being flashy, all while clearly showing its Porsche heritage. And it’s better than ever as Porsche Philippines unveiled the 2025 Taycan to the press on Thursday.

Besides styling tweaks that make the Taycan even more eye-catching, the German automaker has pushed the boundaries of EV technology by offering models that simultaneously provide more power, shorter charging times and greater maximum range. Porsche Philippines is initially offering three variants of its high-performance EV.

“We ushered in electromobility in the Philippines with the introduction of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S at the end of 2020,” said Porsche Philippines president and CEO Robert Coyiuto III in a press statement.

“The fully electric sports car immediately set the benchmark in performance and luxury that is yet to be matched in the electric vehicle segment,” he added. “We are continuing this spearheading success story with the new Taycan Turbo S.”

Breathtaking performance

Leading the charge is the revamped Turbo S, which is one of the most powerful models in Porsche’s lineup.

Now packing up to 952 horsepower and 1,110 Newton-meters of torque, the Taycan Turbo S offers truly awe-inspiring performance, EV or otherwise. Its 105-kWh battery pack and electric motors front and rear allow for a claimed 0 to 100 km/h time of just 2.4 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h.

The latest Taycan Turbo S also gets a new push-to-pass button that unleashes its full electrified might, boosting acceleration when drivers need it most. It comes standard with two-chamber adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, with the unit on display getting the optional Burmester 3D surround-sound system.

Keeping this wheeled lightning bolt in check are lightweight Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes with 10-piston calipers up front and 4-piston calipers at the back, along with 21-inch Aero Design alloy wheels with EV-adapted performance tires and Rear-Axle Steering for greater agility.

Porsche Philippines said the revised EV powerplant now allows for a maximum WLTP range of 630 kilometers on a full charge.

Coupe for four

For those who want the full Porsche EV driving experience, but don’t need the torrent of power of the Turbo S, there’s the Taycan RWD.

As the name implies, this only gets an electric motor on the rear axle so that you can enjoy rear-wheel-drive balance. Mated with the optional 105-kWh battery pack, the Taycan RWD pumps out up to a combined 435 horsepower and 420 Newton-meters of torque.

The Taycan RWD accomplishes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in a claimed 4.8 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 230 km/h. Porsche Philippines said this model’s maximum WLTP range is 678 kilometers on a full charge.

Aside from the two-chamber air suspension, the Taycan RWD gets high-performance brakes with 6-piston calipers in front and 4-piston calipers out back. Also standard are 20-inch Taycan Turbo Aero alloy wheels, as well as Warn and Brake Assist with Pedestrian Detection for safer journeys.

The Taycan RWD we saw had options like a Bose surround-sound system, Lane Change Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, ventilated front seats and soft-close doors.

Capacious and capable

And finally, for people who want the Taycan’s style and speed with more utility, Porsche Philippines didn’t forget about you.

The Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is a shooting brake that provides even more space and cargo capacity, offering up to 1,212 liters with the rear seats folded. Complementing its higher ground clearance is the most stylish matte-black plastic cladding that I’ve ever seen on a car.

The added practicality hasn’t compromised the punch – this long-roof variant has a 105-kWh battery pack with front and rear motors for a combined output of up to 435 horsepower and 585 Newton-meters of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h dash is done in 4.7 seconds and the 4 Cross Turismo will go all the way up to 220 km/h.

Like the Taycan RWD, this model gets high-performance brakes with 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers as standard, along with ParkAssist including Surround View, Power Steering Plus and a Bose surround-sound system. Choice options include the 20-inch Offroad Design alloy wheels and 14-way ventilated front seats with memory function.

Expect to go far with this all-electric shooting brake with its claimed maximum WLTP range of 613 kilometers on a full charge.

Count on Porsche Philippines to take the lead in delivering an EV that looks so good, goes so fast and drives so well.
