Reign of dominance

After a stellar season last year, the Obengers Racing Team once again dominated the 2025 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup series.

Throughout three race weekends, which were held twice at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga and once at the sprawling compound of Villar City in Bacoor, Cavite, the team accumulated a total of 288 points, eventually clinching the overall top team award honors.

The Obengers Racing Team, composed mainly of young prodigy and team ace driver, Inigo Anton, of Baguio City, clinched first and podium finishes in various sprint and endurance races, together with his teammate from Toyota Balintawak and fellow racer in the Super Sporting Class, Joaquin Garrido.

With them were fellow teammates, Julia de los Angeles and Jesse Garcia, who are both forces to be reckoned with in the Sporting Class.

Enduring principle of “happiness”

Cosco Oben, the principal behind the team, who likewise spearheads Toyota Balintawak Inc. and other Toyota dealerships under the Oben Group. said he was proud of what his team had accomplished for two consecutive years.

The team’s success, in particular, was attributed to their team member’s dedication, topnotch skills and strong support system. They are known for their ability to overcome challenges and celebrate their victories as a team.

Oben, a young proven leader, not just of his racing team, but also of the various dealerships under their 30-year company has one had one enduring principle in everything he and his team do.

“I believe in the saying that when your team members are happy, everyone will also be happy,” he said.

“We all started with satisfaction. Now, we’re moving into exceeding the expectations.”

He added: “Happiness is not all about the money in your pocket.

“It’s all about pleasure, passion, and purpose.”

Next year, the team is again eyeing to excel in all its pursuits.

Meanwhile, coming in second in the overall team championship of the 2025 TGR Philippine Cup season was R Racing with 233 points, while finishing third was Toyota Team Cebu Standard Insurance 1 with 154.5 points.
