In this game called “life,” everybody in some way or somehow, falls down. It’s the getting back up that truly matters. Some linger too much and take their time staying down.

They would rather enjoy the comfort of what the calm solid pavement provides than getting on their own two feet too soon, only to risk being bludgeoned again out in the fray. Others who are brave enough, meanwhile, soldier on, only to find themselves lacking the same kind of spirit they once had when they first started.

Whatever the case may be, it’s important to first muster all the courage and find again that drive to continue with the fight.

This is what freshly rebranded Geely Motor Philippines Corp. (GMP), the newly formed subsidiary of Geely Automotive International Corporation (GAIC), is doing when it recently relaunched its products and services at the Filinvest Tent in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

For the uninitiated, the Chinese brand was in troubled waters some time ago as it was shackled by issues regarding its customer and after-sales services that negatively affected its reputation. In turn, this greatly impacted sales and patronage of its products, eventually leading to the closure of some of its dealerships, particularly its main headquarters along EDSA in Quezon City.

The brand relaunch signifies its commitment to the Philippine market and, in a way, its own approach to proceed with its plans of regaining the grounds it once had.

Successful years

The carmaker’s local sales first increased by 52 percent from 2021, churning out 9,302 units in 2022.

In its four years in the country, its total sales reached more than 24,600 units.

However, Geely’s sales started declining by 2023 due to service issues, negative publicity, and transmission problems.

Ways to redeem itself

During its recent brand relaunch, Geely reiterated that it has enhanced its customer-centric approach, particularly with faster response times, individualized customer services, and increased user value through exclusive services and promotions.

GMP president, Will Wan, even shared, “Innovation and inclusivity are at the heart of Geely’s operations.”

According to him, Geely will not only be making cars, but is also creating a better way of living.

“We aim to bring safety, technology, innovative thinking, and cutting-edge design to Filipino users in a more accessible way. We are enabling them to explore new horizons, possibilities, and perspectives to see the world in full,” he added.

With this, they aim to roll out one vehicle model per quarter, this year.

Moreover, Geely plans to build a bigger parts warehouse in Cabuyao, Laguna. The 4,700-square-meter facility will enhance after-sales service by streamlining the distribution of genuine Geely parts across the country.

They also plan to build parts warehouses, not to mention aiming to better their nationwide express delivery.

Highlighting the evening in Alabang was the preview of Geely’s new full electric vehicle, EX5. This EV features a bold and dynamic exterior design, highlighted by a sleek, aerodynamic profile that achieves a class-leading drag coefficient of 0.269. The sophisticated LED taillights and technological front grille further emphasize its modern aesthetics.

The full EV Geely EX5’s minimalist yet luxurious interiors exude a futuristic vibe.

Inside, it offers a luxurious interior, characterized by a minimalist design philosophy and comfortable materials. It also has a FLYMEE Auto system to enhance in-car experience and an 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive, among other things.

Meanwhile, in addition, the newest Geely Coolray and Emgrand were also launched there.

Likewise, the GEELY GO user initiative, was also introduced, reflecting Geely’s commitment to providing an exceptional ownership experience.
