Sculpted Steel

Maserati celebrated its milestone 110 year anniversary by launching its first-ever fully electric vehicle—the GranTurismo 110 Folgore Anniversario. The GT110 is a limited-edition all-electric model that pays homage to the marque’s 110 years of craftsmanship, performance, and design. Only 110 units of this special GranTurismo have been produced worldwide. 55 units are finished in Blu Inchiostro, a deep inkwell blue color that is exclusive to Maserati, and another 55 in Rame Folgore, a vibrant copper shade that nods to Maserati’s electric “Folgore” (lightning) identity. Both units were on display at the launch of the GT110 in Maserati Philippines Greenhills Showroom on October 23.

The celebration reached Philippine shores with even deeper significance, as Maserati Philippines marked its 15th anniversary, underscoring the brand’s growth in a market that embraces luxury, performance, and artistic expression.

A Sculpture of Steel, Electrified for a New Era

Maserati Philippines Chairman Emeritus Wellington “Willie” Soong once famously described Maserati vehicles as “sculptures of steel”—a phrase that resonated strongly with Maserati Philippines President Sam Versoza, who referenced it in his remarks at the GT 110 launch. Versoza said that the GranTurismo 110 Anniversario embodies the spirit of that sentiment, merging craftsmanship with innovation to create an automobile that is not just driven—but admired.

The GranTurismo 110 Anniversario is an evolution of the GranTurismo Folgore, now re-imagined as a tribute to Maserati’s heritage. It carries a special anniversary emblem, a unique Trident badge exclusive to the model, and bespoke interior treatments that elevate its collectible appeal. This all-electric grand tourer reinforces Maserati’s commitment to a high-performance electric future while preserving the elegance and emotional pull the brand is known for.

The Fusion of Italian Automaking and Filipino Art

Adding a unique cultural layer to the evening, the launch featured the presence of celebrated Filipino sculptors whose works were showcased alongside the limited-edition Maserati.

Renowned glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, considered a pioneer in the art of glass sculpture in the Philippines, attended the launch with two of his iconic works on display. Orlina’s sculptural pieces—known for their precision, luminosity, and the dynamic interplay of light—perfectly complemented Maserati’s ethos of form meeting function. A multi-awarded artist, Orlina has exhibited internationally and is widely recognized for elevating glass as a serious art form in the country.

Also present was acclaimed Filipino sculptor Jinggoy Buensuceso, whose deep blue sculptural wall installation served as a striking backdrop to the Maserati GranTurismo finished in Blu Inchiostro. The installation, created in collaboration with artist Isaiah Cacnio, celebrated movement, texture, and modern abstraction—mirroring the sleek lines and fluid dynamism of Maserati’s design language.

Their presence gave the event a cultural significance that transcended an automotive reveal. It became a celebration of design as a universal language—one that connects Italian automotive artistry and Filipino creative genius.

As Maserati Philippines marks 15 years in the Philippines, Versoza said the dual celebration was “a testament to the enduring appeal of Maserati,” noting that the Philippine market has evolved to not only seek luxury, but to appreciate heritage, innovation, and purpose.

A Milestone Framed by Art and Legacy

The convergence of Maserati’s 110-year legacy, its electric future, and the participation of esteemed Filipino sculptors transformed the event into more than a car launch—it was a dialogue between motoring mastery and visual artistry.

To echo the words of Soong & Versoza, Maserati will always be art. This time, however, it was not only sculpted in steel—but celebrated in glass, metal, and electric power, making the night a fitting homage to the craftsmanship, beauty, and creativity of Maserati.
