Misamis Occidental, in Northern Mindanao, is known primarily as an agriculture-based province, with over 61 percent of its total area considered as croplands. Interestingly, one of its municipalities, Clarin, has been dubbed the “Suman Capital of Misamis Occidental,” thanks to the townspeople’s skill and creativity in creating various flavors and fillings of the sweet sticky rice cake, cooked in coconut milk and wrapped in banana leaves.
Want to know another skill that Clarin wants “stuck” to its name? Try automotive care. Sure, that’s a world away from making “suman,” but there’s a good chance that it’ll succeed in that, too, as the country’s number one automotive brand has chosen Clarin for the location of one of its service centers.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), in partnership with Toyota Iligan City Inc. of the Toyota Cagayan de Oro Inc. group, has officially begun the development of the Toyota Clarin Service Center—the first of its kind in Misamis Occidental, offering local residents direct access to Toyota’s after-sales services. Strategically located in Barangay Lapasan, the new facility is designed to provide high-quality, reliable automotive services, enhancing the overall Toyota ownership experience for both existing and prospective customers in the region.
The upcoming service center will elevate customer convenience and satisfaction in Clarin and nearby areas and will help support customers within the region. Upon completion, the Toyota Clarin Service Center will span a total building area of 2,620 sqm and will offer a full range of after-sales services, including periodic maintenance, general job, and body and paint services. It will also feature a modern showroom and state-of-the-art service bays to accommodate a larger number of customers efficiently.
“This facility will be part of the endless developments in the municipality of Clarin which we believe will help further boost its local economy,” shared TMP first vice president for customer service operations Bernardino Arevalo. “This initiative is a step toward building a stronger, more connected, and more prosperous Clarin, where progress benefits everyone,” he added.
If the business climate in Clarin is anything like the actual weather of the province (which is generally typhoon-free for most of the year), then it should be smooth sailing from now until Toyota Clarin Service Center’s inauguration day, and far beyond.
