Seltos Pride
The subcompact crossover sports utility vehicle market in the country is a thriving industry. With its boom comes cutthroat competition. For Korean carmaker, KIA Philippines, its lifelong quest is to better itself day in and day out. Hence, nothing more deserves the slot to slug it out against the toughest rivals in its segment than the Kia Seltos.
For several years now, the chic, stylish and classy city slicker has been Kia’s staple in the jam-packed category. Recently, the newest Seltos was just unveiled at the Ayala Museum in Makati City.
The launch of the new Seltos signifies the marque’s introduction of its newly-upgraded lineup of vehicles catering to a new breed of customers yearning for products that are “cut above the rest”. Now, the vehicle—like any of Kia’s future vehicles—is more refined and redefined to take on any adventure.
“This is a big moment for us,” says KIA Philippines President Toti Zara.
“I feel that the future is bright for KIA Philippines, and the new Seltos marks the beginning of an exhilarating chapter as we continue to drive towards automotive excellence in our market,” he added.
“We will remain dedicated to driving innovation, pushing boundaries, and shaping the future of mobility in the Philippines.”
New-age design and safety features
The Seltos features a more sharpened design. Exterior details have been revamped with futuristic shapes making it a standout amid crowded field small crossovers. The larger grille highlights width and gives it a stronger appearance. This is then coupled by new LED headlamps. The so called “Star Map” signature lighting across the front fascia creates a distinct picture of the vehicle.
It now also sports a more confident and rugged stance. The vertical-shaped fog lights are integrated with daytime running lights for a suave look.
Meantime, at its rear, the lighting design and features mimic those at the front.
Inside, the cabin space offers a futuristic vibe. It comes alive with its bright screens and modern sharp looks. At the centerpiece is the “segment-first” panoramic screens, combining the 10.25-inch instrument cluster and 10.25-inch center display. Other creature comforts are added to give convenience to the vehicle’s occupants, such as: A new crash pad with a modern, bold center garnish that matches with horizontal layout while still inheriting geometric heritage; a high-tech interface for integrated control of infotainment and air conditioning features; a panoramic sunroof; dual auto A/C; wireless charging and mood lamps.
Advanced driver-assistance system features on the top-trim level include Smart Cruise Control and Forward Collision Assist. A stronger SUV
The new Seltos is offered in three variants and two engine choices: 1.5 LX: P1,198,000; 1.5 EX: P1,288,000 and 1.4 Turbo SX: P1,688,000.
The 1.5L MPI engine features excellent fuel efficiency and performance, while the 1.4L turbocharged engine delivers more oomph.
“Our stable of capable SUVs is stronger than ever,” says Brian Buendia, COO of Kia Philippines.
“Loaded with standout style, some of the latest technology, advanced driver assistance systems, and enthusiastic performance, the Seltos is in a league of its own.”
The vehicle comes with a five-year, 160,000-km warranty. The Seltos LX and EX variants are already available. While the top-of-the-line Seltos SX variant will be rolling out soon.
