Singapore Grand Prix 2024 sizzles on and around the track
- Exciting F1 action supported by world-class entertainment acts including Lenny Kravitz, Kylie Minogue, OneRepublic and The Corrs
Singapore will once again see the world’s best racers zoom past the iconic city skyline this weekend, as the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix holds its 15th edition from 20 to 22 September, 2024. The Singapore Grand Prix made history as the sport’s first night race back in 2008. The brilliant idea of holding the F1 race during cooler nighttime hours was a hit among race fans.
The 2024 Singapore Grand Prix will see some of the hottest race competitions in the past few years, as several teams have been catching up to current world champions Red Bull Racing and lead driver Max Verstappen. McLaren has already overtaken Red Bull after its victory last weekend, and McLaren driver Lando Norris may soon be within striking distance of Max’s points tally. The 2023 Singapore race was memorable as the first of the season where a team other than Red Bull won. It was a thrilling race from start to finish, with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz taking the checkered flag. Will this year see another Ferrari victory, or will another team pull off a surprise? Fans know quite well that the safety car has been deployed in every single Singapore GP. The teams’ changing fortunes and sudden lead changes make Singapore Grand Prix one of the most exciting races on the calendar.
Before and after the thrill of the on-track action, there’s plenty of entertainment around the Marina Bay Street Circuit. World-class acts that will perform around the circuit include OneRepublic, Kylie Minogue, Lenny Kravitz, Disclosure (DJ), The Corrs, Kool & the Gang, Tones & I, BabyMonster, and HONNE. Legendary American R&B band Kool & The Gang is expected to perform their massive hits including “Celebration” and “Get Down on It” at the Wharf Stage on Saturday. Rock superstar Lenny Kravitz will be performing in Singapore for the first time. The four-time Grammy Award winner has sold more than 40 million records worldwide. He will perform iconic songs like “Fly Away” at the Padang Stage on Sunday.
The all-women racing series F1 Academy will make its debut as a support race in Singapore this year. The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will also hold a pair of races on the twisty street circuit. The 2023 event attracted more than 264,000 visitors, and this year may break attendance records.
Fans can walk just a few steps from some of the best food outlets and the most popular sightseeing spots in the city-state right into the world of Formula 1. With Singapore gearing up for yet another thrilling edition on and off the track, the best catchphrase may be from Sunday’s headliner Lenny Kravitz: ‘It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.’
