Spirit of “fun-to-drive” comes alive once again
It’s another exciting race weekend for all motorsports enthusiasts in the country as Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) once again holds the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines Cup at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga this September 28.
Expect another round of heart-thumping action as Leg 2 sets the stage for racers in the Novice, Promotional, Sporting and Super Sporting Classes.
Here, the races feature two kinds of formats – the Sprint Race, a 12-lap or 30-minute race; and the Endurance Race, a 1.5-hour race.
In the Novice Class, TMP head honcho, Masando Hashimoto, will again be racing himself, after his exhilarating racing debut during the first race weekend a few months ago. Racing head-to-head alongside him are Autocross Challenge graduates, such as influencers Lexi Mendiola and Reph Bangsil, together with racers from the media: Jamil Lacuna (Autoindustriya), Jose Altoveros (Yugatech), Pablo Salapantan (Yugaauto) and John Rey Sandiego (Autocar), as well as sim racer Russel Reyes.
Meanwhile, celebrities, such as Ryan Agoncillo and Troy Montero are likewise set to return to the track competing in the Sporting and Super Sporting Classes, respectively.
As side highlights, Toyota car clubs will be bringing to the tracks their GR performance cars for an exclusive track experience. It would be a sight for eyes for fans of the GR Supra, GR 86 and GR Yaris as they get to see their favorite cars sleeking through, while they’re being treated to the ‘eargasmic’ sounds of powerful roaring engines.
Professional drifters will also get to treat spectators to a shotgun ride around the track.
Meanwhile, sim racing enthusiasts can test their skills at the TGR GT Cup experience booth, wherein freebies will be up for grabs during the event.
Also, official GR merchandise will be on sale, GR road cars will be on display, and a musical guest will be there for everyone’s enjoyment–all for free.
“The fun never stops with Toyota Gazoo Racing! As we continue to help develop motorsports in the country through events such as the TGR Philippine Cup, we hope fans find more reasons to enjoy and experience for themselves the thrill of the track,” shared TMP vice president for marketing services department, Elvin Luciano.
Embedded in the spirit of “fun to drive”, TMP continues to push through with its aspiration to provide local motorists with ever-better cars through motorsports. Since its inception in 2014, the Vios Cup has been showcasing the capability of the locally-made Toyota Vios. Moreover, year in and year out, TMP has made sure to make the races as eventful as possible. Hence, now known as the TGR Philippine Cup, fans can expect not only ever-better cars, but also ever-exciting races in the years to come.
