Staria in a million

Following its launch on Thursday, the all-new Hyundai Staria Hybrid will be on display until today at the Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa City.

The electrified Premium Van replaces all the passenger variants of the previous Staria, with the Cargo model retaining the familiar 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Staria Hybrid lineup is composed of five variants, namely the GL 9-Seater, GL 11-Seater, GLS 9-Seater, Premium 9-Seater and Premium Plus 7-Seater.

The all-new STARIA Hybrid carries over the eye-catching styling of its predecessor.

All models are powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve, inline-4 gasoline engine mated to an electric motor and battery pack – combined output is 242 horsepower and 265 Newton-meters of torque, which are coursed through a 6-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) said average fuel consumption is 17.7 kilometers per liter.

“The Staria is one of the most iconic nameplates in our current lineup, completing our Hybrid range while carrying a legacy Filipinos trust,” said HMPH president Jiho Son in a press statement.

“Building on the Starex’s role in family life, we are proud to be launching the Staria Hybrid which brings a more connected, comfortable experience for modern and practical Filipino families,” he added.

HMPH is offering special promos at all HMPH dealership nationwide until July 31, 2026 for straight-cash and financing transactions.

Spaceship styling

The Staria Hybrid carries over the eye-catching styling of its predecessor, particularly the rounded front end with full-width LED daytime-running lights and bumper-mounted LED headlights.

The GLS, Premium and Premium Plus models get intricate LED taillights (GL models retain halogen taillights), while only the latter two variants have Cube Projection headlights as standard. All models get power-folding mirrors, with the GLS, Premium and Premium Plus including heating and turn-signal repeaters.

All Staria Hybrid variants likewise have dual sliding doors, which are electrically operated in the GLS, Premium and Premium Plus – the top three variants also get an electrically operated, height-adjustable tailgate. This big MPV is available in three colors, namely Abyss Black Pearl, Creamy White and Shimmering Silver Metallic.

7, 9 or 11 seats

The Staria Hybrid is available in three seating configurations, with all models coming standard with a push-start button, electric parking brake, selectable driving modes, electronic climate control for the front and rear rows and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The top-spec Premium Plus 7-Seater variant is available exclusively with Bordeaux Brown Nappa leather and electrically adjustable and ventilated captain seats in the second row, while the Premium 9-Seater comes with Anthracite Brown leather and manually swiveling second-row chairs. Both variants get electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats.

Meanwhile, the midgrade GLS 9-Seater comes with Obsidian Black leatherette upholstery and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, while the entry-level GL has Obsidian Black cloth trim and can be optioned with either nine or 11 seats.

Moving up to the GLS, Premium or Premium Plus gets you interior goodies like a wireless charging pad and rear curtains, but only the top two variants have a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12-speaker Bose surround-sound system. Dual sunroofs are available exclusively in the top-of-the-line Premium Plus.

Life-saving tech

All Staria Hybrid models get dual front airbags, cruise control, tire-pressure monitoring, parking sensors, reversing camera and electronic stability control.

The GLS, Premium and Premium Plus variants add side and curtain airbags, while the top two models come standard with the Hyundai Smartsense active-safety suite that includes Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Following Assist and Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist and Surround View Monitor.

The Premium and Premium Plus models also get Bluelink, which is Hyundai’s Connected Car Service platform. Using Hyundai Live Services, owners can access traffic and weather updates from the infotainment system without the need to tether a smartphone – data is refreshed every to two minutes to provide near-real-time conditions.

HMPH said the Bluelink system also supports online voice recognition, allowing users to send and receive text messages while keeping their focus on the road. It also keeps owners informed of their vehicle status, diagnostics and health reports, while enabling remote control of climate settings, door locks, horn and lights.
