Ten things to like about the all-new Hyundai Kona Hybrid

Last June 20, Hyundai Motor Philippines celebrated its 3rd anniversary with the release of the all-new Hyundai Kona Hybrid at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater. The KONA Hybrid joins Hyundai’s lineup of hybrid variants, comprised of the Santa Fe, Elantra, and Tucson.

The now second-generation KONA brings with it a number of consumer-oriented features and updates. Here are some of the best features of the new car:

CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS

Design

The exterior design of the car now sports a more futuristic look, with Hyundai’s signature LED horizon light on the front fascia and 3D garnishes on the front bumper being especially noteworthy.

Pizzazz

The Hybrid Premium variant is also fitted with 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels along with wheel arch cladding, a power sunroof, and a roof rack intended to support active consumer lifestyles.

Hybrid Power:

Kona carries a 1.6-liter hybrid engine, mated to a 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission, delivering 141 ps of power and 144 Nm of torque. This is paired with Smart Regenerative Braking and e-Motion Drive features to optimize car performance and comfort.

High-tech interior

Kona now includes a floating dual 12.3-inch panoramic instrument cluster and infotainment display, coupled with a sophisticated electronic shift-by-wire system and an 8-way power adjustable driver seat.

Connectivity

To help supplement passenger convenience and entertainment, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now come standard in the Kona, alongside a wireless charging pad with a built-in cooling fan and Type-C USB ports.

Storage

The front row also includes an open console storage system with rotating cup holders. Fold-flat second row seats also provide drivers with a cargo space of up to 1,241L. Lastly, a height-configurable power tailgate is also present, increasing the Kona’s convenience factor.

Active safety

Hyundai’s SmartSense safety system also provides drivers with a number of advance driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist, among others.

-Easier Parking: A Blind Spot View Monitor and Surround View Monitor also come standard, helping driver visibility.

5 color variations are also available: Atlas White, Abyss Black Pearl, Neoteric Yellow, Cyber Gray, and Meta Blue Pearl.
