Avatar

Toyota Motor Philippines has indeed taken motorsports in the country to a whole new level. Aside from the yearly Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) activities on the sprawling race track of Clark International Speedway in Pampanga, which is celebrating its 10th year this 2024, the Japanese carmaker has also taken the world of the fast lane to the digital realm.

Now on its fifth year, the TGR Gran Turismo Cup (TGR GT Cup), this time, is debuting a new competition format for all our eager sim racing enthusiasts in the country.

The premier sim racing competition first had its qualifying stints early this month, wherein participants were pitted in a time-attack challenge. From there, the top 40 fastest players emerged and advanced to the quarterfinals. Here, registrants either participated in the qualifier online or on-site at the Toyota Motor Philippines Marketing office in Makati City.

For the Finals, this e-motorsports tourney is setting up the stage at the Main Atrium of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

This tourney here is divided into the Quarterfinals on August 17 and the Semifinals and National Finals on August 18.

The top 40 e-racers from the qualifiers battled it out in the Quarterfinals to determine the top 20 players who will advance to the Semifinals.

The Semifinals will see the top 20 e-racers go head-to-head to determine the top 10. The top 10 then compete in the National Finals, wherein the top 3 e-racers who will emerge get the chance to represent the country at the Asia Finals in Malaysia later this year. Other winners, meantime, get amazing cash prizes, original GR merchandise and actual seats at the Autocross Challenge.
