Toyota wraps up the race season and tells us they are racing Tamaraws next year

We’ve just wrapped up an exhilarating weekend at the TGR, or Toyota Gazoo Racing, Philippine Cup. This event marks the third weekend of a one-make series race that Toyota has developed at the grassroots level. It’s not just a race, it is a vibrant festival of motorsports. They allow fans and enthusiasts to take to the racetrack in their Toyota and Lexus Vehicles, they have SIM Racing setups and support booths from their sponsors like Seiko Philippines and GT Radial and PIAA and Rota Wheels. The success of this event lies in its unique approach: it takes the Toyota philosophy and applies it to a realm where it truly belongs—motorsports enthusiasm.

This third weekend was packed with excitement. The series featured Vios sedans driven by competitors with varying levels of experience. The participants ranged from those who started as sim racers, who hone their skills on computers, to those from multi-generational motorsports families. Even the current president of the Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation, Masando Hashimoto, took part and performed admirably and finished second overall in the Novice Class. This grassroots initiative has been nothing short of a triumph, not only in terms of participation but also in connecting Toyota with a passionate community, beyond their established reputation for automotive excellence.

Adding to the excitement, Toyota announced the upcoming Tamaraw Cup. This new series will feature their pickup trucks, set up using their flatbeds without the drop sides. The racing was intense, with five seasoned championship racers crossing the finish line within an almost a second of each other. The announcement of a full-fledged race series for the coming year is a testament to Toyota’s commitment to demonstrating and bringing further afield their tradition of innovation and excellence.

Toyota’s approach, rooted in their philosophy of responsibility and progress, is evident in the meticulous organization of these events. They have partnered with great collaborators to ensure everything runs smoothly. This weekend was a perfect example of how Toyota is not just about building cars but also about fostering a community of enthusiasts who share their passion for motorsports. All this on top of a stellar reputation of just making good products for consumers. They understand, very clearly, that it isn’t just about one thing ore one tagline. it is about everything, and always moving forward.
