1,018 passenger buses get Holy Week special permits

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Wednesday said it has granted special permits to more than 1,000 buses while also conducting inspections to ensure a safe and orderly Holy Week exodus.
LTFRB Chair Teofilo Guadiz III, in a statement, said a total of 1,018 special permits have been issued as of April 8 to ensure there will be enough passenger buses for people going home during the Holy Week break.
The special permits are valid from April 11 to April 27.
To complement this, Guadiz said the LTFRB has been conducting since Monday random inspections of public utility vehicles and transport terminals, checking the validity of operators’ documents, including permits, fare matrices, vehicle markings and safety accessories.
The LTFRB, he added, will also monitor private terminals starting on Friday to ensure the presence of help desks. Passengers can report any complaints through LTFRB’s 24/7 hotline at 1342, its official Facebook page or via email at complaints@ltfrb.gov.ph.
