2 Pinoys hurt in HK fire

Avatar

Two Filipinos were among the dozens hurt in a fire that hit an old residential building in one of Hong Kong’s densely populated districts on Wednesday morning.

Reports said at least five people were killed, 41 injured and around 300 more were evacuated from the 200-unit New Lucky House building in the Yau Ma Tei neighborhood.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the two Filipinos who were injured remain in the hospital for treatment as of Thursday. One of them is an elderly Filipino woman who is a permanent resident of Hong Kong. She was treated for smoke inhalation and due to her age, doctors decided to keep her in the hospital to monitor her condition, said the DMW.
