On Monday, the Philippine government successfully repatriated 52 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and one dependent from Lebanon as part of its efforts to assist Filipinos who are escaping the Middle East’s geopolitical crisis.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said that the Filipinos arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport via a Qatar Airways flight. Most of them were sheltered in Beirut under the monitoring of the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

The DMW assured that all the repatriates received immediate financial, medical, and airport assistance from the Department of Foreign Affairs, DMW-OWWA, Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

This batch of repatriates is part of the 131 OFWs set to return to the Philippines this week. The second batch, with 79 OFWs and eight dependents, was set to arrive on Tuesday.
