ACT reactivates election hotlines for teachers

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) on Tuesday announced the reactivation of their election hotlines for teachers who will serve during the 2025 midterm polls in May.
The hotlines are 09569130778 and 09684801168, and ACT can also be reached through the act.hotline@gmail.com email.
ACT Chair Vladimer Quetua said the reactivation of the hotline was in partnership with the Akademya at Bayan Laban sa Disinpormasyon at Dayaan (ABKD).
Teachers and poll workers facing election service-related issues through the hotlines can report directly to the organizations. These hotlines can also provide a “platform” for voters reporting electoral irregularities.
More than 186,000 teachers will serve as electoral board members in the midterm polls, said Quetua, stressing the importance of their safety, welfare and rights.
“Our teachers have historically faced high-risk conditions during elections—from harassment and intimidation to violence, especially in politically contested areas,” he said.
“Some have even lost their lives while performing this crucial civic duty,” Quetua said.
The hotlines will also provide “real-time monitoring” and immediate response to concerns raised by teachers and even voters.
The initiative will be fully operational during the campaign period and on election day on May 12.
ABKD lead convenor Mike Pante said the reactivation of the hotlines will also help them document “systematic efforts to manipulate public opinion.”
