ANGELES CITY—Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. has issued a public warning against hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD) after five suspected cases in this city in Pampanga were reported.

The five children suspected to have HFMD have undergone testing by the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit and are in isolation in their respective houses.

HFMD is a contagious viral infection primarily affecting children up to 10 years old.

Common symptoms include fever, sore throat, loss of appetite, blister-like lesions on the tongue, gums and inside the cheeks, and rashes on the palms and soles of the feet.
