Bohol eyeing to host big sports events, Palaro

TAGBILARAN CITY—Aiming to become a key player in sports tourism, Bohol is laying the groundwork to host the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet in 2028, and is preparing a bid to host the Palarong Pambansa, the country’s biggest sporting event for student-athletes.
The provincial government, in partnership with the Department of Education in Central Visayas region, convened on July 21 the first coordination meeting for the CVIRAA 2028 local organizing committee.
With 10,000 to 12,000 athletes and delegates expected, Bohol is now focusing on infrastructure, transportation, billeting quarters, and interagency coordination to ensure a smooth and secure hosting of these major events.
“This is more than just a sporting event—it’s a chance to showcase Boholano pride and unity,” said Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado.
“We want CVIRAA 2028 to be a memorable experience for everyone, and an investment in the future of our province.”
As the Philippines’ first and only Unesco Global Geopark, Bohol plans to integrate sports development with its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, offering participants a uniquely Boholano experience.
