A security guard at a car dealer shop shot dead two of his coworkers as they were sleeping, saying he was tired of being bullied by the victims.
Charren Aporado Caboverde, 24, was arrested on Dec. 25, a day after he killed Renato Santiago Mallo, 41; and Mark John Baguinio, 28, who were also security guards at the Mitsubishi car dealer shop on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
Before the shooting, Caboverde told a sales executive to go out of the shop after saying he was ready to kill somebody after “holding back for a long time,” according to a Quezon City Police District (QCPD) report.
QCPD director Police Col. Randy Glenn Silvio told reporters in an interview that Caboverde waited for the victims to fall asleep before shooting them.
“It seems like our two victims were bullying him, and before the incident, there was a fistfight and he couldn’t handle them,” Silvio said.
“So he waited for them to rest and fall asleep, and then he committed the crime,” he added.
Silvio said the victims were senior employees, while Caboverde was new at work.
After the shooting, the suspect, a native of Zamboanga del Norte, left the shop after hailing a taxi cab. The police, however, tracked him down using footage taken by a CCTV camera at a nearby establishment. Caboverde was arrested the next day in Tondo, Manila.
