More than 47,000 inbound and outbound passengers were monitored traveling through seaports nationwide on Sunday morning, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

In its morning advisory, the PCG said over 25,000 passengers were traveling outbound, while 22,644 were inbound. The agency placed its districts and stations on heightened alert and has deployed more than 3,000 front-line personnel.

These personnel, according to PCG, have already inspected 210 vessels and 191 motor bancas. Earlier, PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan announced their operating units will be on heightened alert until April 3, even though Holy Week ended on March 31.—FAITH ARGOSINO
