Comelec mulls over Moro party listup reopening

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is considering reopening the filing period for the nominees of regional parliament political parties for the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections on Oct. 13.
Comelec Chair George Garcia said some parties requested the reopening in order for them to file a more accurate list of nominees.
“There is a call for the reopening of the period to file names of nominees of political parties. They are appealing if we can reopen the period,” he said in an interview on Friday.
“The Comelec might be able to discuss and reconsider our decision. It is possible that we will allow anew the submission of nominees.”
The filing period for the parties was held Nov. 4 to Nov. 9 last year. A party is required to nominate 40 individuals for the elections.
Each group may be able to get a maximum of 40 seats in the Bangsamoro parliament, depending on the outcome of the elections.
