Cops nab 2 men in second ‘gas-and-run’ case in QC
Two individuals have been arrested after they allegedly fled in a white Toyota Vios from a gas station in Payatas Road, Quezon City, without paying for P1,500 worth of fuel, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the QCPD said the suspects identified only as “Tyron” and “Ricky” were arrested in their respective houses in Rodriguez, Rizal, on Monday night, hours after the “gas-and-run” incident, the second case to be reported in Quezon City since last month.
Third suspect sought
According to a report from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), a check with the Land Transportation Office about the white Toyota Vios led police investigators to a certain “Nerisse” in Taguig City, who said she sold the vehicle to a certain “Christian,” a resident of Rodriguez, Rizal, in 2021.
Christian, however, told the police that he had lent the car to his friend, Tyron.
The QCPD said that investigators were still looking for a third suspect identified only as an alias “Botchoy.”
The police did not detail how the three men were related or their alleged roles in the incident.
The QCPD, however, said that Tyron was previously arrested for serious physical injuries over an incident at a gas station in Rodriguez, Rizal, in February 2017, while Botchoy had previous records for drug-related charges in July 2017 and frustrated murder in February 2020.
“The arrested suspects will be charged with estafa and referred to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings, while authorities continue efforts to locate and apprehend ‘Botchoy,’” the QCPD said.
Last month, a 27-year-old transport network vehicle service driver identified as alias “Jefferson” also fled after filling up his Toyota Innova with over P5,000 worth of fuel at a gas station in Barangay Apolonio Samson, Quezon City.
