The nationwide crime rate dropped by 22.53 percent from January 1 to June 13, 2025, the Philippine National Police reported on Friday.
The number of focus crimes from January 1 to June 13 this year fell to 14,162, down from 18,280 for the same period last year, according to a statement released by the PNP.
Focus crimes include murder, homicide, rape, physical injury and theft of vehicles and other items.
Upon assuming office as PNP chief last June 2, Gen. Nicolas Torre III said one of his goals is to convince the public that the crime rate is declining.
Torre also directed police officers to conduct patrols instead of remaining stationed at police boxes and community precincts.
“That’s the only way to regain trust, when the people know that whatever happens, the police are there. With only one call, they’ll respond,” he said in Filipino.
