DBM submits P6.7-T proposed 2026 budget to Malacañang

The 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP) has officially been turned over to President Marcos, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said on Tuesday.
In a post on social media, the DBM said that Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman personally went to Malacañang to deliver the proposed national budget of P6.793 trillion for Fiscal Year 2026 to Mr. Marcos.
“Good!” the President reportedly told Pangandaman, according to Budget Undersecretary Goddes Libiran, who was also present.
The DBM said in an advisory that it will also submit the 2026 NEP to Congress on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
The proposed budget for next year is 7.4 percent higher than this year’s national budget of P6.326 trillion. Once received by Congress, both chambers will deliberate on it before sending it to Mr. Marcos for signing as the 2026 General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
Aligned priorities
In a presentation of the 2026 NEP before the Cabinet last month, Pangandaman said that the President held a discussion with different government agencies “to ensure that all our priorities are aligned toward our common goal of achieving our vision of a Bagong Pilipinas.”
The DBM earlier said the 2026 NEP prioritizes social services, particularly education, in line with the directives of Mr. Marcos.
It also said it had to trim down requests for budget proposals that reached P10.101 trillion due to “limited fiscal space.”
The NEP serves as the basis for the GAB, which will become the General Appropriations Act once the President signs it into a law.
