President Marcos has extended the deadline for hospitals to file their claims with the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) to 120 days, Palace press officer Claire Castro announced on Wednesday.
This comes after the Commission on Audit urged the Department of Health to address more than P1 billion in claims from PhilHealth, which have affected the financial stability of hospitals, including compensation of health-care workers.
The unpaid claims totaled P786.6 million and P298.7 million, respectively, mainly because the hospitals did not consistently follow PhilHealth’s processing rules.
