GREEN FLAG

/green flag/

Noun

Used to describe an individual’s healthy trait; A positive sign in someone’s behavior, usually in the context of dating or friendships

ORIGIN

For many years, the color green has been associated with the meaning “go” in various forms of signage, signaling systems, and flags. Green has long been used to signify a safe condition. This is where the term green flag emerged.

Green flags, in the context of relationships, are desirable characteristics or qualities of a person that signal the other individual that they are a good potential partner or friend.

At the start of an interaction, green flags are what Gen Zs use to indicate that someone is worth pursuing or engaging with.
