DictionarINQ: Haul
HAUL
/hol/
Noun
A collection of items purchased during a shopping experience, commonly including clothing, cosmetics, or groceries
ORIGIN
Haul, as a noun, is originally defined as “the result of an effort to obtain, collect, or win,” according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary. It can also mean “the act or process of transporting something in a vehicle” or a large quantity of something obtained or transported.
In the age of social media, haul refers to a large pile of purchases from a shopping spree, usually made during a trip.
A haul is a collection of items, such as makeup or clothes, that an individual purchases all at once and typically showcases through a video posted on social media platforms such as TikTok and YouTube.
Content creators and influencers often unpack and provide reviews of the items they have purchased during a trip and call it a haul (e.g. Japan haul).
