The name ‘Sharmaine’ recently gained popularity online, and has already reached the global algorithm, but how did it originate, and what’s the actual context behind it?
Filipino content creator, BAET (or @eko06004 via TikTok), went viral for his content series wherein one character, an orange fruit, rants for having an effortless name (which is the same as its color) while its friend, which is yellow-colored, is named ‘Mango.’
The skit continues with ‘Orange’ taking the next step to change its name to ‘Sharmaine’ and having it officially notarized.
After the content went trending, the name ’Sharmaine’ spread everywhere, and has even become a marketing strategy for grocery stores and local supermarkets.
