In the Philippine context, young stunnas are often seen wearing oversized, layered clothing and are frequently labeled as this generation’s “Jejemon,” a subculture that arose in the early 2010s identified by the individuals’ ways of texting and fashion. Young stunnas, like Jejemons, have constructed their own distinct language.
In January of 2026, the term “young stunna” made waves in different social media and news platforms when marshals in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) asked groups of teenagers wearing baggy streetwear to leave the area. This led to several discussions among netizens regarding elitism and discrimination.
