Dizon: Always ready to testify in flood control cases
Secretary Vince Dizon, who returned to the Department of Transportation on Tuesday after serving as Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) chief, said he was ready to testify in future trials of former Ako Bicol party list Rep. Zaldy Co and other personalities implicated in the multibillion-peso flood control scam.
“Of course, whatever the Ombudsman needs me to do, we will do it because Zaldy Co [and other personalities involved] need to be jailed,” Dizon told reporters in an interview on Wednesday.
As DPWH secretary, he investigated allegedly anomalous infrastructure projects implemented by errant department officials who colluded with private contractors and some lawmakers.
Dizon testified on Sept. 23 in the graft case filed against Co in the Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division over the allegedly substandard P289.4-million flood control project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
Before that, he also testified in the former lawmaker’s malversation case pending before the antigraft court this year, also in connection with the same infrastructure project.
