DMW finds 2 missing OFWs in Hong Kong

The two missing overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Hong Kong have been found, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac announced on Friday.
OFWs Imme Mahilum Pabuaya, 24, and Aleli Perez Tibay, 33, were last seen in the Tseun Wan District before disappearing last Oct. 4.
“Last night, around 10:30, our MWO (Migrant Workers Office) assistant labor attache received a call from our case officer that the two were found and brought to a police station in Hong Kong,” Cacdac said in a virtual press briefing.
“The two were immediately fetched and, around midnight, arrived at our Migrant Workers Office and given psychosocial counseling by our social service attache … They are both in good condition, safe and sound in our Migrant Workers’ Office in Hong Kong,” he said.
According to Cacdac, Pabuaya and Tibay explained that they “got lost” at the Lung Mun Country Trail.
The two had been working in Hong Kong as domestic helpers but were terminated as a result of their disappearance.
Cacdac said they have yet to determine the circumstances of Pabuaya and Tibay’s disappearance, as the pair had yet to undergo a medical checkup and explain to their employer.
The DMW chief also said that whether the two OFWs would be repatriated depends on whether their termination from their work would be final.
