DOH suspends new fees for health products

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday suspended the increase in fees for facility registration and certificate of product registration for health products.
In a public advisory, the DOH said Secretary Teodoro Herbosa approved the recommendation of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director General Paolo Teston to suspend DOH Administrative Order (AO) 2024-0016 for 60 days.
The AO adjusts existing fees and imposes new charges for the registration of health products.
Herbosa signed the recommendation in line with the directive of President Marcos to promote ease of doing business and improve access to drugs.
The DOH assured the public that it is working closely with the FDA and concerned parties to ensure that revised or new fees are necessary and primarily for cost recovery.
Teston earlier said any increase in regulatory fees must be supported by visible improvements in service delivery and operational efficiency.
