Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon and four other appointees in constitutional commissions will face the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) when the 19th Congress resume sessions next month.

Surigao del Sur lawmaker and governor-elect Johnny Pimentel, the CA assistant minority leader, said on Sunday that Dizon is scheduled to undergo the commission’s scrutiny on June 3.

“The CA’s committee on transportation has set a meeting to consider Secretary Dizon’s ad interim appointment,” he said.

He added that Congress will reconvene on June 2, after a four-month recess. It will adjourn sine die on June 14.

President Marcos appointed Dizon as head of the Department of Transportation on Feb. 21 following the resignation of his predecessor Jaime Bautista, who cited health reasons.

Dizon served as Presidential Adviser on Flagship Programs and Projects and headed the Bases Conversion and Development Authority under the Duterte administration.

Pimentel said that after Dizon faces the CA, its Constitutional Commissions and Offices will gather on June 4 to decide on the ad interim appointments of four newly designated officials to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Commission on Audit (COA) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Those who will undergo CA scrutiny include: Comelec Commissioners Noli Pipo and Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingall, who were tapped to replace Marlon Casquejo and Socorro Inting; CSC Commissioner Luis Meinrado Pañgulayan, who replaced Aileen Lourdes Lizada; and COA Commissioner Douglas Michael Mallillin, who replaced Roland Pondoc.

“The public is encouraged to submit to the CA secretariat any information, written reports, or sworn/notarized complaints regarding the appointees,” Pimentel said.
