DOTr: PITX terminal fees waived for 3 months
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday announced that the terminal fees will be waived for public utility vehicles (PUVs) using the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) for three months starting on May 18.
In a statement, the DOTr said the waived fees will apply to PUVs, including city and provincial buses, modern and traditional passenger jeepneys, UV Express vehicles and taxis.
The move aims to ease the burden of PUV operators affected by the ongoing energy crisis caused by the Middle East conflict, which has led to runaway fuel prices throughout the country.
According to the DOTr, operators of provincial buses that use the PITX pay a P100 terminal fee for every vehicle they onboard. For city buses and UV Express vehicles, the terminal fee is P20 per vehicle and P10 for every jeepney and taxi.
The DOTr estimated that PUV operators using PITX would save around P5 million over the next three months because of the terminal fee exemption. It added that the waiver may be extended following an assessment.
