DPWH sets 24-hour road repairs in parts of Metro

While a lot of people will be going out of town during the Holy Week break, those staying in Metro Manila will not be spared from heavy traffic.
In an advisory from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, it said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will undertake 24-hour road works in several areas in Metro Manila starting at 11 p.m. on April 16, Holy Wednesday until 5 a.m. on April 21, Monday.
The repairs will be undertaken on different stretches of roads in Quezon City, Makati and Pasig.
The Department of Health has also activated a “Code White Alert” in all hospitals nationwide until April 20, Easter Sunday, in preparation for any health-related incidents as Filipinos travel home to their provinces.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), in an advisory also on Monday, said that all airports under its management are on “heightened alert” with more personnel deployed to assist passengers.
CAAP assurance
The CAAP assured the public that security and baggage screening procedures are being implemented smoothly, while medical and emergency teams are on standby.
In managing flight operations, the government agency said it would coordinate with airlines closely.
“We anticipate high passenger volume during ‘Semana Santa’ and have made the necessary preparations to ensure safe and efficient airport operations,” CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario said.
The CAAP also reminded passengers to verify flight details like terminal assignments before going to airports. Passengers must also arrive early to allot enough time for check-in and security screening procedures so that they will not miss their flight.
