Driving schools in Tarlac, Quezon shuttered

Avatar

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has temporarily closed two driving schools based in Tarlac and Quezon provinces for their alleged involvement in the fraudulent issuance of Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) and Practical Driving Course (PDC) certificates, which are necessary to obtain a driver’s license.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said both schools were suspended for 30 days pending the result of the ongoing investigation and were required to explain why they should not be punished for violating their accreditations.

According to LTO-Intelligence and Investigation Division chief Renante Melitante, they immediately deployed poseur clients in compliance with the order of Mendoza, which targets at least two driving schools that were tipped to be involved in the fraudulent activity.

In his report, Melitante said their poseur client at the MCSY Driving Academy based in Tarlac City was able to secure a TDC despite nonappearance through the help of one of the instructors.
