The National Bureau of Investigation announced on Thursday the arrest of a former Manila City councilor over a kidnapping case pending against him in a Makati City court.

In a statement, the NBI said its agents from the International Airport Investigation Division took Roderick Valbuena into custody when he arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on May 20 from Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States.

He was taken to the bureau’s detention facility in Muntinlupa City.

Valbuena is one of five people charged with kidnapping for ransom before the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 61.
