Fugitive Norwegian nabbed for child abuse

A Norwegian man, wanted for child abuse, was arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) while attempting to apply for a visa extension in Manila.
According to BI tourist visa section chief Raymond Remigio, Maryath Stig Ljunggren, 42, was intercepted last Oct. 29 at the BI main office in Manila.
In a statement on Friday, the bureau official said that the foreign national’s name appeared in their derogatory database for being the subject of a request from Norwegian authorities to locate and arrest the said fugitive.
The foreigner is wanted by the Oslo Public Prosecutor’s Office for sexual offenses against children.
He reportedly abused a family member for over a period of six years, from 2014 to 2020. He is also the subject of an Interpol red notice for the same case.
His case was immediately reported to the BI’s fugitive search unit, which implemented his arrest.
