Our Lady of Sorrows
Ps 100:1b-2, 3, 4, 5
We are his people: the sheep of his flock.
1st Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 27-31a
Gospel: John 19:25-27 (or Luke 2:33-35)
Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister Mary, who was the wife of Cleophas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw the mother, and the disciple whom he loved, he said to the mother, “Woman, this is your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “This is your mother.” And from that moment the disciple took her to his own home.
Reflection:
They must shine and enlighten their children.
Before Jesus breathed his last, He entrusted his beloved disciple to Mary, His mother, and Mary to His beloved disciple. Mary, as the Mother of the Church, guides us just as she guided her son Jesus. We consider every mother to be the light of the home. They must shine and enlighten their children so they do not go astray. In today’s world, are parents still fulfilling their duty to their children, especially by setting a good example? Are today’s youth still obedient to their parents?
