President Marcos has directed all government agencies and government-owned or -controlled corporations to support and cooperate with the activities lined up for the two-week celebration of the 127th Independence Day this year.
Signed on Feb. 13, Memorandum Circular No. 77 also encouraged local government units and the private sector to similarly lend their support to the celebration’s programs and activities from May 28 to June 12, 2025.
Mr. Marcos said the two-week observance is to “celebrate the freedom fought for by our forefathers, the future that they dreamt for the nation and the history we aim to remember and honor.”
A steering committee led by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will oversee the plans for the commemoration of the 127th Independence Day celebrations.
In 2023, the President issued Administrative Order No. 8, which created an interagency committee chaired by the NHCP to be the lead agency in planning and executing programs and projects for the Independence Day celebrations from 2023 to 2026.
