Gov’t workers to get P5K productivity bonus
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Thursday announced the grant of this year’s Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) for qualified government employees, with a uniform rate of P5,000.
The amount shall be released not earlier than Dec. 15 in accordance with Budget Circular No. 2017, signed by DBM officer in charge Rolando Toledo on Dec. 17.
The DBM circular, addressed to all heads of departments, bureaus and agencies of the national government—including state universities and colleges, government-owned or controlled corporations, local water districts, local government units and all other concerned entities—also states the conditions, policies and guidelines for the grant of the annual performance-based incentive.
According to the circular, “the grant of the PEI is aligned with one of the governing principles of Congress Joint Resolution (JR) No. 4, s. 2009 that ‘a performance-based Incentive scheme which integrates personnel and organizational personnel shall be established to reward exemplary civil servants and well-performing public institutions.’”
Motivator
It added that the PEI is one of the incentives under the Total Compensation Framework, which was established under Congress JR No. 4, s. 2009. It may be granted to government employees as a reward for exceeding agency and financial performance targets, and to motivate employee efforts toward higher productivity.
On Dec. 12, President Marcos also approved the release of the Service Recognition Incentive for government employees for this year, amounting to up to P20,000, in recognition of their hard work and loyalty.
At the same time, he authorized the release of a P7,000 gratuity pay for contract of service and job order workers in the government.
