PAGADIAN CITY—A retaining wall along the Bogayo–Gatub section of the Maharlika Highway in Kumalarang town collapsed on Sunday morning, rendering the road impassable.
The Kumalarang local government unit (LGU) said no motorists or civilians were injured. The highway had been under a stop-and-go traffic scheme since January due to a landslide and road-widening works.
Authorities advised travelers to use the Lakewood route while Badsbro Construction clears debris and restores the road. Officials warned the area remains dangerous and urged the public to stay alert.
“For everyone’s safety, do not use this route until further notice,” the LGU said.
