ICC hit by new ‘sophisticated’ cyberattack

The International Criminal Court (ICC) was targeted in a new and sophisticated cyberattack, and it is taking steps to mitigate the effects of the incident.

Last week’s attack was immediately detected by the court’s cybersecurity system and was swiftly contained, according to the ICC website.

“A court-wide impact analysis is being carried out, and steps are already being taken to mitigate any effects of the incident,” the ICC said.

According to the ICC, it was the second attack of the same type on its systems.

In September 2023, unidentified hackers tried to break into the court’s database which holds information on individuals, organizations and states.

The court is investigating high-profile cases, including those involving Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
