Illegal recruiter nabbed with 3 victims
The National Bureau of Investigation charged a man, identified as Jacob Tuballa, for illegal recruitment after he was intercepted while traveling to Vietnam with three suspected victims of human trafficking.
The NBI said Tuballa was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport last month in the company of the three passengers who later admitted to be heading for Europe.
The NBI found that the three passengers were recruited by their companion to work as ironers in Bulgaria.
One of the victims said Tuballa promised her a salary of 1,400 Bulgarian leva (P34,000), while the two others said they were promised salaries of 550 to 800 euros (P33,335 to P48,488).
Tuballa is charged of violating Republic Act No. 8042, or the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act, and RA 9208, or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
