Jeepney operator in Quezon City counterflow summoned

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has summoned the operator of a jeepney whose driver was caught on video two months ago doing a counterflow amid Quezon City traffic.

In a statement on Saturday, the LTFRB said it had issued a show-cause order on the motorist and ordered him to explain in writing why the franchise of his vehicle should not be suspended or revoked.

Among his violations were employing a reckless driver and failure to ensure the commuters’ safety and comfort as required under the conditions for the issuance of Certificate of Public Convenience.

The operator was directed to appear before a hearing by the LTFRB on Sept. 3.

The video uploaded in June caught a passenger jeepney making an illegal counterflow along Quirino Highway.

“Let this investigation serve as a strong message to the PUV drivers that the LTFRB will not tolerate this kind of behavior on the road.
