Jinggoy retracts motion to attend VP trial
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada has withdrawn a motion asking the Sandiganbayan Second Division to allow him to attend the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte at the Senate.
In a resolution dated July 1, the court division acknowledged the withdrawal of Estrada’s motion which he filed on June 30.
His lawyers said the motion was supposed to be filed before the antigraft court’s Fifth Division, which is hearing the nonbailable plunder charge against the senator.
The Second Division, on the other hand, handles his graft case for which he has posted a bail bond of P90,000. Estrada, who is aligned with the minority bloc in the Senate, is detained at the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas.
He is accused of receiving P573 million in kickbacks from budget allocations for flood control projects last year.
