Labor group: Probe deaths of 3 hotel workers

The National Union of Workers in Hotel, Restaurant and Allied Industries has called for an independent investigation following the deaths of three engineering workers at a sewage facility of Dusit Thani Residence Davao on Oct. 5.
Citing Republic Act No. 11058 or the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Law, the group said the investigation should determine whether negligence, foul play or violations of occupational safety and health standards were involved.
It urged the Department of Labor and Employment, the Bureau of Fire Protection and the city government to conduct a “thorough probe.”
